The Ill Project: Violencia and Radio Bembe

The Integrated Arts Project this year, The Ill Project: Violencia and Radio Bembe, was inspired by Homer’s Iliad. Students read book six of the Iliad during the Fall semester and discussed the themes of the Greek story as it relates to war, violence, ethics, fate, the code of honor, and gossip, and how it reflects the issues and events of today’s war in the Middle East and in their lives. Students in the Drama class wrote an original play inspired by the Iliad performed by students and puppets created in the Marionette class. Students in the Music class composed an original musical score for guitar and percussion, and students of the Dance class choreographed dance pieces that they performed as part of the presentation.
