Woodhull Pediatrics Ward The Woodhull Pediatrics Ward Mural was created by Los
Muralistas de El Puente between 2001-2004. Mural Director Joe Matunis led
a team of artists from El Puente in facilitating drawing and painting
workshops with pediatric patients, nurses, doctors and other staff members
of Woodhull Hospital. Drawing from the images and discussions that was
generated from the workshops, Los Muralistas created a colorful mural
design of playful animal creatures representing children and adults
interacting in a hospital setting. The project was coordinated by Deborah
Douek, Director of Child Life Services at Woodhull Medical Center, and
organizaed in partnership with Groundswell Community Mural Project. The
student muralists on the project were: Isolina Marinez, Maurilio Tendilla,
Hernis Marinez, Juan Garcia, and Maya Chang Matunis. Dia De Los Muertos/Day of the Dead
